Took my father to Dr. Hardten after cataract surgeon at VA cut my fathers eye and developed into many problems. Dr. Hardten was able to clean up and insert stents and follow up appointments with other treatments that only improved. We are so grateful for his expertise and his willingness to help us. My dad was able to drive once again.

Dr. Hardten did my cornea transplants in both corneas and insertion of plastic lenses into both eyes a number of years ago. It was a remarkable experience to be somewhat awake during the procedures and it was clear to me that his painstaking expertise gave me excellent vision, which I still have. He follows up to make sure that even years later my vision is maintained at a bit better than 20-20. My night vision also remains excellent. Surgery went well. I really don't recall anything after I was wheeled out of the pre-op room to the operating room. Dr. Hardten did the cataract surgery on two of my siblings and now me. Dr. David Hardten is a true professional. I had severe trauma to the right eye caused by an extension cord that whiplashed back approximately 30 feet and smacked directly into the eye. The result was detached retina, mashed pupil, loss of the lens and iris. Once the retina was repaired with laser surgery I’ve been under his care and have had the opportunity to actually have vision due to a new artificial lens and cornea transplant. I was referred to Dr. Hardten by my regular ophthalmologist because my regular ophthalmologist told me I had an eye condition called keratoconus. On my first exam with Dr. Hardten, he told me I did not, in fact, have keratoconus but other issues with my cornea. So, first he took care of the cataract I had which was an amazing procedure that took maybe 15 minutes. I was so impressed!! After my eye heals from the cataract surgery, we will proceed to work on my other cornea issue in about 5 to 6 months. Honestly, this is the eye doctor who has corrected other eye doctor's eye surgery complications. And, that is what he did for me correcting a LASIK surgery problem. Been with him for 20 years. I would go to no one else. He has performed three more eye surgeries for me. This is the physician that a few of the up and coming eye doctors at Minnesota Eye Consultants have secretly told me they would trust their eyes to no one else. Really happened. The only downside of writing this review is others will now know. I had a really great experience with Dr. Hardten and the team at Minnesota Eye Consultants when I had my PRK consultation and surgery. Dr. Hardten and the staff were all very knowledgeable. Dr. Hardten explained why he thought PRK was the best option for my eyes as I had gone in for a LASIK consult. I trusted his decision and am very happy with the results. He and his staff gave me very realistic expectations for what to expect during the surgery and recovery. They were also there for me afterwards to answer any questions I had and encouraged me through my recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Hardten!
